Crowning a champion

Crowning a champion

The DMV always shows out at USA Weightlifting national level competitions, and we consistently produce some of the top athletes in the country. That’s why each year, we’ll be crowning our own DMV Champions by way of the WSO Championships.

2025 wso championships

IMG_2885.JPG

this year

We’re opening up the pool and soliciting bids to host the 2025 WSO Championships! We invite anyone with potentially suitable space to host the championships for 130-150 athletes, plus coaches, spectators and vendors, to submit a bid.

why host?

The host club will receive 100% of the spectator fees charged as part of the event. Proceeds depend on attendance, but for many meets, this can be upwards of $2,000 – $3,000. Not bad for closing the space down for a day or two, and no risk of losing money on the event!

But logistics!

You do not need to have hosted a meet in the past in order to host the championships! The WSO committee has experience running high-quality meets and will take the lead for coordinating logistics, helping with space planning and traffic flow, providing sufficient equipment, etc. If you can provide the space, we can provide the people power.

More Questions?

If you have any questions at all around what this entails or whether your space might be suitable, email the WSO board at board@dmvweightlifting.org
